Picking The Brain Of Psychic Medium John Edward

It was awesome to chat with John Edward again! Not only is he incredibly interesting, but he’s also equally sassy, so obviously we get along great. Here’s what I learned in our most recent conversation:

It’s been two years since we last spoke! How have things been for you since then?

The past two years have been, I would say revisiting, rebranding, re-understanding, a lot of retrograde kind of energy for me. That's how I look at the last couple years.

How would you describe your abilities as a psychic medium?

I work with energy with a client. So when I'm working with someone, whatever I see, hear, and feel, I then share. A lot of times to talk about people who have crossed over, people who are on the other side and they come through and validate that it's them and then give information about their loved ones and friends and their connections. And then I also will talk about where a client is in their life and where they're moving forward and what the lesson is in that.

How did you discover you could do this?

My mom's side of the family liked having psychics come over and I really wasn't a big believer in the subject matter. My dad was a New York City police officer and a military guy that was not fond of psychic things, so I wasn't allowed to be around that growing up. But then, when my mom and dad divorced, we moved into my grandmother's house, and they were having house parties and psychics come in. Long story short, at the age of 15, I had a reading to debunk a woman to prove to my family that she wasn't legitimate, and she changed my life.

What do you believe happens to us after we die?

This is what I tell people to explain it to kids to help kids understand the concept of death. If we take a pot, and we put it on the stove, and we pour water in it, we say the pot is our body and the water is our soul. And we turn the flame on. And that's the sun right? The sun makes all things possible to grow on the planet. Over a period of time, that water is going to boil and it's going to evaporate, and it's going to change form and it's going to leave the body, it's going to leave what the container is. And then it goes into the air and so the universe, right? So, I kind of feel like when we leave this body, we're kind of like evaporating out of the pot, we're evaporating outside of the vessel and we're in this space. This is a dimension that coexists with us. Like the way the internet is coexisting with the physical world and it's a place that we can access. It's kind of like that, except it's not the internet, it's consciousness. I believe that life and love are consciousness, and when we leave our physical body and the process of physical death happens, whether it's something that is quick and fast, or somebody's lays laboring to leave, either way, it leaves behind a hole in the fabric of the families that are left behind and that grief is something that we need to honor and we need to work on. But they're okay.

What does it look like or feel like to you when you are receiving the messages in a reading?

For me personally, I see, hear and feel, so that means that I see images, I hear thoughts, like downloaded thoughts in my head, and then I get a feeling and whatever it is that I'm seeing, hearing, and feeling, I then interpret, but I interpret it my frame of reference. So if we say to your listeners, what is an apple? You would get so many different responses. Somebody would say Apple like the computer, like the the iPhone, somebody might say a teacher, some might say doctors, some I might say red, but mine are green, then somebody might go Granny Smith, somebody might say Macintosh right? Apples would have one little symbol that would have so many different meanings for different people. So, depending on who you are, depends upon what your belief is, depends upon what you think. I interpret in my frame of reference. Whatever I see and hear, I’d give it to you first what it means for me, sometimes it means has nothing to do with what I think and everything to do with the family.

How do you explain what you do to people who aren't receptive to it or who are non-believers?

I think the most important thing is to ask everybody to be skeptical. I kind of pull the believers into the middle and I try to get the cynical people into the skeptical arena. And I say just question everything, right? Because if you question everything, it's going to lead you to your own truth. And truth is truth. Meaning like one plus one really just is two, it's never going to be four. It's never going to be three. When you put two things together, it's two, one plus one is two. I think once we're a critical thinker, once we're taught critical thinking skills, and we apply that to everything in our lives, not just the subject matter, I think it's helpful and it's a great tool and a lens to look at life through.

What’s really exciting is you're actually coming to our neck of the woods soon! You're going to be in Portland July 6th. What can people expect at your live events?

A live event for me is a classroom and you, whoever comes, are the syllabus. Because whoever you bring with you, and I mean in spirit, becomes the teaching tools for me. So the people that come through kind of raise the classroom lesson for that grouping of people. I could do three events in Portland and I'll have three very different events because of the people that come.

When I had John on the line, he also did readings for a couple of listeners, Rosie & Haley. Take a listen to all of that below!
